March 7, 2018 - zzzzzzzzz ouch
It was time to get my special souvenir, my tattoo. I went to the shop, Otautahi Tattoo, and my artist, Tom, was already waiting for me. He asked me what I wanted and if I had any ideas already. I told him what I wanted and he created a nice Maori tattoo for me. He had incorporated three things of my 12 item list. I had told him I knew it was difficult to include everything so we reduced the ideas to three. That was fine because two of them basically include everything else. They are details but that's fine. He incorporated abundance (which to me means everything good: health, money, friends), happiness (as a thing already there but also generating from many other things I desire), and music. I love that music is in that tattoo. Music equals happiness. The needlework took about 45 minutes which I bravely suffered through. This tattoo now embellishes my right calf. Honestly, I have no idea how people make it through 2 or 4 or 6 hours of being tattooed. And on other more painful parts of the body too. I'd faint.
I am very happy with the result of my tattoo. This is my very special connection with Aotearoa, the Maori name for New Zealand.
